Haircut question about tapers?

My question is when i say blowout i think the gotti blowout but the ppl at my barbershops blowout is like a bald fade. So the haircut i want is the gotti version kind of but not as long and crazy looking. so i was think about telling my barber that i want a taper with a 4 on top so i can use gel to spike it. will this work or is a four not long enough or will it look funny long and tapered. i need a way to tell my barber because i been wanting this haircut for so long. Right now i am rockin a ceaser haircut wit da pointy side burns so answers please?
